Humans have been putting spherical objects in hoops for centuries, but until the invention of the dunk, the fast break, and face dribbling, it wasn’t an activity worth watching. See if “basketball” lives up to the hype with today’s GrouponLive deal: for $15, you get four general-admission tickets to see Centenary College Ladies and Gents basketball games at the Centenary Gold Dome on both January 5 and 7 (a $40 value). The following games are included:

  • Against Sul Ross State on Thursday, January 5. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m.
  • Against Howard Payne on Saturday, January 7. The women tip off at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.<p>

Showcasing hard-fought NCAA Division III action, the Centenary College Ladies and Gents swirl their maroon-and-white jerseys over the newly renovated hardwoods of the liberal-arts university’s striking geodesic golden dome. From general-admission seats inside the intimate 3,000-seat arena, fans can catch sneakers squeaking on backdoor cuts to the basket or spy a defender lurking in a passing lane, waiting to surprise opponents with a sales pitch for investing in giraffe leashes. On the men’s squad, senior forward Maxx Nakwaasah leads the roster with an average of 26.8 points per game and several opponents’ sweatbands stolen after eight games. For the women’s team, coach Kristen Davis corrals a talented troupe loaded with seven freshmen on her roster. After attending two games in each of two days, spectators will leave the historic college campus with their brains branded by the fight song.
