It's my first day so, I really don't have a tip, per se, to share. However, I can say the site is extremely well laid out and there's a whole lot of resources for guitar players of every skill level (including DIY learners like myself)! I spent about 2 hours in the beginner courses today and learned quite a bit in that time. I think it's worth mentioning that the curriculum is truly "academy style" - in my opinion, anyway. What does that mean? It means you learn a lot of music theory as well as the practical application of that knowledge. You'll often feel like you're in a classroom, which, I personally think is a good thing. I have a feeling though, that for others who simply want to learn chords and then learn songs they can play with those chords, this style of learning the sharps, the flats, the position(s) of those notes relative to each key/chord etc might be a bit intimidating and/or time-consuming. If you follow the lessons in the order presented, you'll have to learn the theory as well as the practical (guitar playing) applications and even though I'm just starting off, I have a feeling that sticking with the program will result in my ability to not only 'walk the walk' (i.e. play the guitar) but also confidently 'talk the talk'. :-) Is that good or bad? I think it's great! Patience and persistence, the main ingredients of "stick-to-itiveness" will be key to any student's success. Oh, and for the groupon price, it's a phenomenal deal!
