From Napoleon's great crab walk through Europe to J. Robert Oppenheimer's discovery of nuclear fission by kissing his own elbow, victory has always gone to the most flexible. Overpower enemies with today's Groupon: for $40, you get one month of unlimited classes (a $125 value) at either of Centered City Yoga’s two in-town locations—on East 900 South and East 3300 South.
A welcoming studio for all ages, genders, and skill levels, Centered City Yoga boasts dozens of diverse classes each week during the morning, afternoon, and work-friendly evening hours. Beginners can engage with the experts during workshop Fundamentals classes or flow through abdominally dominated Core Basics classes (both classes last 75 minutes). Once the mind becomes limber with self-belief, students can tailor their trainings through specialty sessions such as Yoga for Stiffer Bodies, a 75-minute method of dynamic flow and deep stretching, or Forrest Yoga, 90-minutes of overall strengthening coupled with emphasis on inner awareness. Centered City knows that no two bodies are alike, not even those of evil android doppelgangers, which is why the studio also provides gender-specific classes such as Power Hour 4 Men, age-appropriate classes such as Yoga Kids (ages 4–9) and Teen & T’ween (ages 10–15), as well as classes for shape-shifters such as prenatal, postnatal, and Yoga for Bigger Bodies.
Because Centered City opens its mind and studio to so many interests, personalities, and body types, the only things stopping a student from dropping by is themselves, blizzards, or forgetting that daylight savings time is a myth. Take a gander at the class schedule and choose a time that works to begin your fitness and flexibility pilgrimage.
- Each time I go I can't believe what a gift it is to have such an excellent program so centrally located in Salt Lake City. Admittedly, I have my favorite teachers. But even when I try a new class I come away uplifted and impressed with the class and myself. – Melissa, Google Maps
- Very community oriented, a place to meet good people and relate on the use of the body. Very friendly atmosphere, low pressure environment. Wide range of classes to choose from to fit varying skill levels. Teachers are looking to get you into your body, not into your ego. – laureleaf, Citysearch
