Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

I'm interested in this procedure to reduce fine lines around my mouth. Can you tell me what is the down time after having this done. I've spoken to another physician about a procedure and am wondering if it is the same as what you have advertised. I was told by him that is was moderately uncomfortable and most patients would require medication such as viocidin to tolerate it and that the skin would get very swollen and peel quite a bit needing about one week to recover. Thanks for an answer.

Thank you for your question. We don't know what laser the other physician you spoke to may have so I can't compare our laser. Typically we say give yourself 3-5 days for your full face. Everyone reacts a little differently to the treatment. Some people have a little swelling for a day and some may still have some on the 5th day. Again this is depending on your specific treatment. Without seeing your skin and doing a consult we could not give you a definitive answer. For an area around the lips we would expect the redness and swelling to be minimal and have little downtime. Also, we use the Palomar Icon laser: Palomar invented and patented micro-fractional laser technology. Their technology is the perfect choice for the treatment of wrinkles, acne and surgical scars, melasma, striae, unwanted textural irregularities, crow's feet, blotchy skin and more, on virtually any trouble spot on the body - face, neck, chest, arms, legs. Please give us a call if you'd like more information and you are always welcome to come in for a free consult. Thank you.

More Questions and Answers

Q:

Sounds like from the Q and A I have seen so far that the laser you have with the groupon would not be the one for "blushes" and spider veins on the legs. It looks as though you are willing to work with the client and their needs within the Groupon. Am I correct? I have "blushes" and spider veins on my legs and would be interested in what could be done for those. Is this the right treatment?

Ann C.  asked on  May 3, 2013

A:

We are willing to work with our clients within the groupon. We can better inform you of what you will need in terms of treatments once we have done a consult. For "blushes" and spider veins we have two other lasers that we would use. This fractional laser is not the laser we'd use. We have a Pulsed Dye Laser and an IPL laser which would better treat these. We recommend doing a free consult so we can inform you of the best treatment. Please call and we can schedule you right away. Thank you.

Q:

Does this laser treatment work for freckles, dark patches, etc from sun damage from years ago? How many treatments are necessary to get this done? If you had skin discolorations and small lines around your mouth done at the same time, would that count as one treatment or two. Thank you.

A:

This laser is better for building collagen and helps tighten skin and reduce thin small wrinkles. freckles, dark patches and sun damage are better treated with IPL or PDL lasers and we have both of those. You can call the office to get pricing for the other lasers. Thanks

Q:

I'm interested in the procedure for two different areas. I have a flat, port wine birthmark on one knee and two large surgery scars on the other knee. Would this procedure work for these? If so, what kind of downtime is involved and could I purchase the 4 treatments Groupon and split 2 treatments for each area? Thank you

Vanessa M.  asked on  May 2, 2013

A:

This laser would work on the scars but you would need at least three treatments for the scars and at least 3 on the port wine stain. This is not the best laser for the port wine birthmark. we have a different laser that is better for the port wine stain. If the port wine stain is not too large we can use the other laser to treat your port-wine scar and if you buy the package of four we can do 2 of the treatments with the PDL laser for the port wine and 2 treatments with the fractional laser on the scars.
