Director Kristin K. Yost knew from the first time her fingers brushed against the ivories that she wanted to devote her life to music. While at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, Kristin won the South Dakota Music Teachers Association Collegiate Piano Division and the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire Concerto Competition. In 2006, Ms. Yost graduated from Southern Methodist University, with a Master's Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. She now works with the Centre's nine specialized instructors to provide high quality instruction (Most members of the faculty have a master's degree or above.) to learners of all ages.
If you're looking for a thoughtful way to culture kids, musical lessons do more than put them on the proper sound track. Children who study an instrument score higher on vocabulary and non-verbal tests, according to an MSNBC in-depth study. If you're looking to score a side job, impress strangers, or give your life new meaning and purpose, schooling yourself in the area of sound could do the trick. Plus, the lessons are private, so you can practice and learn comfortably, without offending anyone with your tuneless chords or clunky fingers.
While enjoying your Groupon, know that you must use all four lessons within one month of your debut at CMM.
One reviewer on Mamapedia gives the Centre five stars:
- I played an instrument for 12 years and my daughter wanted to learn to play one as well. She started at Centre for Musical Minds and loves it! The teachers are tremendously talented and personable. - A Mom In Plano
