During weapons training and personal protection courses, Green Beret Special Operations soldiers cover pistol-shooting fundamentals, defense techniques for the home, and how to repel an attacker. The 12-person classes’ 26 hours of training include Tuesday–Friday meetings from 9 a.m. to noon or 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., as well as a Saturday range session from 10 a.m. to completion. They also amend that course load for their two-day personal protection training, whose 10 hours include pistol familiarization, awareness in public areas, and hands-on reactive scenarios. In one eight-hour or two four-hour advanced marksmanship classes, instructors meet one-on-one with law-enforcement officers, military members, or individuals with NRA basic pistol or rifle course certificates to fine-tune their shooting skills. Students can bring their own weapon if they prefer, though rifles, pistols, and ammunition are included in the course.
