Ceramics a la Carte stocks its craft chests with all the supplies needed to create pottery perfection in only five steps. While munching on brought-in refreshments, budding artisans select a piece of pottery from more than 500 pieces to accommodate personal standards of beauty and fear of handles, including small ornaments ($5 each); mugs, plates, and bowls ($10–$15 each); and lamps, clocks, and planters ($20+). A $6 studio fee per person covers instruction, paints, design tools, glazes, and firing in the kiln. After branding the bottom with their name or literary pseudonym, pottery painters get to work colorizing the un-glazed pottery with a range of hues. Once sufficiently gussied up, pieces camp in a kiln to be finished and fired.
Ceramics a la Carte
Ceramics a la Carte's more than 500 unfired bisque pieces invite amateur painters to decorate coffee mugs, serving dishes, and piggy banks with food-safe glazes in a rainbow of shiny colors. Blank ceramic canvases await the kiss of paint applied with the use of a variety of delicate brushes or indelicate trebuchets. Alternatively, patrons can confer with the store’s accomplished staff artists, who enrich ceramics with custom designs that center on children's handprints, wedding and teacher gifts, or paintings of family homes.
