Q:

I would really like to purchase this for my husband and son. My son is 10 years old, would he be allowed to go with his dad on the flight lessons? Thank you, Jessica

Jessica F.  asked on  Dec 2, 2012

A:

Generally speaking, because the Ultimate Flight Package's Flight Lessons are one-on-one, formal instruction, taking passengers is ill-advised. If you are purchasing the Discovery Flight ($59), which is a one-time 30 minute flight to see if Aviation is something the student is truly interested in, then it would be more suiting to have a passenger. However, being that the training aircraft being used has only two headset jacks (one for the student, one for the instructor), any passenger in the backseat would need to bring earplugs to avoid noise fatigue. You would also want to consider any nausea-related issues that can arise, particularly in a younger passenger. A Cessna 172 is a small aircraft and subject to turbulence. Above all, having a passenger on an introductory flight is at the instructor's discretion. If you purchase this for your husband primarily, the instructor will have to decide if the wind conditions and air stability would be condusive for your son to ride as a passenger. Contact us at (937)-525-1441 if you have any further questions or concerns, and to schedule your appointment if you do decide to purchase this deal. Thanks!

Also, any additional passenger in the aircraft is a $20 charge, payable to us on the day of your appointment. I apologize for not including this in the original answer. Feel free to contact me at the Springfield location @ 937-525-1441 with any questions or concerns.

Q:

I was looking at the ultimate package for my husband. I saw two dates listed for the 2nd and 3rd visits. What if his first visit doesn't happen before then. We are looking to go in Springfield, so is the first lesson on a certain date? I'm generally confused about how this package would be scheduled. Thanks

Kathy S.  asked on  Dec 5, 2012

A:

The "first" ground lesson is simply a basic aircraft control and preflight overview that takes about 30 minutes. It is held one-on-one just prior to your first flight lesson. Since the three flight lessons can be scheduled AFTER the two set ground lesson dates, this basic lesson can happen AFTER the set ground course dates if necessary. Do note that if you decide to purchase the Ultimate Flight Package deal, the student MUST attend the two courses set for Jan 12th and Jan 19th, 2013, to get the full value of the deal. Due to how this deal was constructed, those two ground lessons cannot be made-up on later dates.

Q:

I've read the prior questions and just want to make sure I am clear on the guidelines before buying. I am interested in purchasing the Ultimate Flying Package for my husband who has expressed an interest. I know he would prefer weekend hours and the Middletown location. We have a busy weekend sports schedule with our 4 kids! As long as the first session is scheduled before the expiration date of April 3, would it be ok if subsequent 2 sessions were after that? Also, I am confused about the Jan 12/19th 11am classes- are those required attendence for this package or can you just sign up for ones that fit your schedule if those dates don't work? Thank you in advance for your reply!

A:

The Ground Lessons scheduled on Jan 12th and Jan 19th, 2013, are set in stone for the Ultimate Flight Package deal. Attendance on those dates is required for the deal. We will hold these two group lessons at both of our locations at the time specified (11 AM), and they will encompass a closer look aircraft systems and aerodynamics. Anyone who misses these dates are unable to make them up due to how this deal was constructed. The first flight lesson is preceded by a 30-minute pre-flight and basic control awareness lesson--so this "first" ground lesson is included with your first scheduled flight lesson. The three flight lessons included in the deal can be scheduled anytime before the expiration date around both your availability and the availability of the aircraft & instructors--even after the set ground lesson dates, if needed. We will most likely be running the Ultimate Flight Package promotion again in the future, so if a future date is more suitable and you would really like to try out that package, I would look for it in the future. However, to give you another option better suited to your schedule, you could purchase the Discovery Flight option ($59). Unlike the Ultimate Flight Package, the Discovery Flight package is done in a single day with one appointment. It still gives the student a little bit of ground instruction prior to going up in the aircraft for 30 minutes with an instructor, and is something we offer everyday to let people experience flying first-hand. Feel free to call me at (937)-525-1441 if this does not clear up the question sufficiently.

Q:

I am interested in purchasing one of these lessons for my 16 year old son. However, the Middletown location is much closer for us. Do you offer this lesson out of the Middletown location and on what days? Thanks

sandra w.  asked on  Dec 3, 2012

A:

If you purchase the deal for your son, you can use it at our Middletown Location. After your purchase the deal, you can call the Middletown Office at (513)-217-4636 to schedule your appointment with them. The days tthe lesson is offered down that way are wholey dependent on that location's instructor/aircraft availability.

Q:

I'm interested in the $59 flight package. Is this all on one day? Is there a certain day or days to do this? This is a gift for my husband and he works every other weekend. He may be able to get time off but I need to know the specifics before I buy please.

Shelley S.  asked on  Dec 3, 2012

A:

Yes, the $59 dollar package is a one-time flight--commonly called a "Discovery Flight" in the Flight Training industry. It is a 30-minute flight with an instructor that gives the student the chance to fly the aircraft hands-on (with the instructor keeping a vigilant watch and giving instruction) to see if a Pilot's License is something the student is truly interested in pursuing. Once you purchase the Groupon, you should call us at (937)-525-1441 to schedule the appointment. We schedule these in 1-1/2 hour blocks (30 minutes for pre-flight briefing, 30 minutes for the flight, and 30 minutes Q&A about the cost options of full training). Thanks for your interest!

Also, the flight can be scheduled on any day in which an instructor and aircraft is available. We currently are scheduling these flights from our Springfield Location in open time slots between 9 AM and 4PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. If you seek to schedule a weekend time slot, the sooner you call, the better, because our weekends tend to get booked up fairly quickly. Again, thanks!
