A Chat with Champion Martial Arts Academy
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We’ve been in business for 20 years. We’re family-owned and -operated, and we provide a clean, comfortable, family environment. We have an open-viewing policy and encourage parents to stay and watch. We never require long-term contracts and our successful track record speaks volumes.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
We have an excellent support staff of instructors and a great student-to-teacher ratio; the average is 5:1. They love to help, so never hesitate to ask a question. We know that everyone’s different, so we encourage all students to take it at their own pace.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Martial-arts schools come and go. Some are like boot camps. Some are like belt factories where they basically hand out the belts. Others dabble in Eastern mysticism. Master Prinkey wanted to create a school that’s like your extended family, where learning is fun and rank is earned.
What do you love most about your job?
There is nothing more rewarding than to take a shy, young boy or girl who lacks focus or self-esteem, and to help them become all they can be. To watch a follower become a leader, to watch a mouse become a lion, and to know you played a part in their success; that is the definition of happiness.
