ChampionsGate Golf Club at Omni Orlando Resort
Designed by architect Greg Norman, both of ChampionsGate's 18-hole courses take advantage of the natural landscape, but each does so in a different way. The National course showcases spring-fed lakes and groves of pine, oak, and cypress trees as golfers navigate bunker-protected fairways and small putting surfaces that make it tough to hold pickup football games on the green. With its 76.8 rating (one of the highest in Florida) and 143 slope, the imposing International course requires experienced golfers to weave through wetlands and more than 160 pot bunkers to conquer the links-style jaunt.
The recent renovation of the International Course has yielded firmer, faster playing conditions, with a restoration of all 18 greens and green-side bunker complexes restored to their original size and appearance. The end result? More than 42,000 square feet of new greens surfaces, allowing for new pin positions to test players of all skill levels. Between rounds, players can kick back with hearty sandwiches and flatbreads at Piper's Grille or upgrade their equipment at a pro shop stocked with Titleist balls, Taylormade clubs, and apparel.
