The food and service were excellent. It was fun. Since it was late in the season there were only two parties for dinner. It is a unique setting. Small bistro table outside under the trees. Good view of the river and lovely sunset. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

About Charles River Bistro

With its tree-lined outdoor seating, a visitor to Charles River Bistro could be forgiven for thinking they're in Paris—if it wasn't for the fact that they're sitting just 100 feet from the Hatch Shell grass oval on the shore of the Charles River lagoon. Thanks to a total renovation in 2013, the bistro blends classic European flavors and atmosphere with a distinct modern American feel—and a few New England foods. Lobster rolls, pan-seared Norwegian salmon, and caramelized Georgia Bank scallops share menu space with more inland dishes such as local lamb and grilled steak. Weekend brunches, meanwhile, are set to a soundtrack of soul and jazz rather than the usual outdoor sounds of birds practicing for singing competitions. While Charles River Bistro offers in-house dining, it also specializes in catering, with vegetarian and vegan options available.
