Watch the Bobcats dribble, dunk, alley-oop, coup-fourre, shimmy-shammy, and Irish chowder with this deal. Today’s Groupon gives you the chance to see the Bobcats claw through the Boston Celtics on December 1 at 7 p.m.. You can choose from two different seating sections in the 200-level. For $25, your tickets will be in the center-court high or corners low section ($70 value), or for $35 you will be sitting in the center court low section ($90 value).

It’s still early in the season, but this will already be the second matchup between the two teams. The Bobcats are out for revenge after falling hard to the Celtics in the season opener, who added insult to injury by framing them for MP3 downloading and cab-sharing. Charlotte was still working out some early-season kinks in their loss at Boston Garden, but as the season has progressed, the team has cohered into a hoops army behind the dunk general, Gerald Wallace. Boston’s core of superstars is a tough group of ballers, but if the Bobcats give it their all, they’ll be able to pick apart the return-to-form Celtics offense. The Bobcats have been solid at home this season, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens when Boston enters their den.

A basketball game is one of the best sporting events to see live. You really feel like you’re a part of the game when you hear those shoes squeaking, balls bouncing, and exaggerated yelps of a Bostonian taking a flop. At the 200-level, the sounds resonate beautifully throughout the four-year-old TWC Arena. Add your Bobcat cheers and Celtic jeers by reserving your seats for this high-octane Eastern Conference rematch.

Note: You will have to email your Groupon ID, name, email address, and cell phone number to an email address provided on your Groupon in order to receive your tickets.

An overview of a recent game versus the Hawks reveals some insight into the Bobcats’ recent upswing.

  • For anyone who thought Friday’s game against the Hawks at Time Warner Cable Arena would be a good test for the Bobcats, considered it passed impressively. After putting together perhaps their best defensive effort of 2009-10 in a win over New Jersey on Monday, Charlotte played its best game of the young season in a 103-83 blowout over the Atlanta Hawks.

Yelpers give the home of the Bobcats, the Time Warner Cable Arena, 3.5 stars.

  • I’ve been to both college & pro bball games here, along with a PBR event, so I’ve seen a lot that this arena has to offer. It really is a nice, new arena located right in uptown Charlotte. – Nick S.

Innovations in Basketball

Basketball has gone through numerous innovations since James Naismith first nailed a peach basket to a galloping horse and invented basketball. Here are some of the key changes that make the game what it is:

1924: The 30-minute shot clock is introduced, guaranteeing at least one shot per game.
1976: The Denver Nuggets begin using a ball that causes fearsome premonitions in whoever is holding it.
1998: The NBA expands by two teams composed entirely of baby kittens.
2002: Losing at basketball is outlawed in Los Angeles, simultaneously causing the Lakers to win the NBA championship and the Clippers to be incarcerated in a floating sky-jail for 10 years.
