- Four-week introductory course
- Meet new people; no partner required
- Fun, progressive instructors
Like defusing a bomb, a well-executed dance routine requires concentration, skill, and a nervous partner that questions your every move before unexpectedly jumping out of a window. Blow onlookers away with explosive dance moves thanks to today’s Groupon: for $45, you get a five-hour, four-week Beginner Level-One Salsa Course at Charlotte Latin Dance (an $85 value). Each class lasts for 75 minutes, which is less time than it takes to be disappointed by a blockbuster sequel. Your skilled instructors will cover the basics of leading and following, the foundation from which fancy spins, tosses, and turns are born. The classes are once a week and progressive, so you must start the first week of the course and grow from there—just as you wouldn’t start juggling chainsaws without first learning how to live without arms. Weekly dates and times vary depending on which session you attend. Check the schedule for full details (look for “5 Hour 4 Week Salsa Beginner Level 1 Course”). This Groupon is only good for half a salsa couple, so you'll need to buy a second one for your friend, hot-blooded lover, or masked Mexican wrestler. But don’t worry, you’re welcome to come stag, too. The classes are structured so that everyone dances with everyone except themselves, eliminating the possibility of a high-school homecoming “boys in one corner, girls in the other, hopelessly lost tourists on the ceiling” situation. This philosophy helps you make amigos and amigas willing to accompany you on long nights of Charlotte-area rug-cutting and dance floor foot-calligraphy.
If salsa dancing were a salsa, it would boast the hottest sequin-clad peppers, lots of kick, and a label warning of its mouth-watering qualities. And besides being an energetic way to boost your heart rate and libido, you can use your newly acquired moves to impress Miami relatives or just to win back the shadow that ran away because it was too embarrassed to share feet with you.
