Julie Andrews once famously starred in My Fair Lady as Eliza Doolittle, the Cockney flower girl plucked from the street by a professor who decides to transform her into a lady. Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, Chaska Valley Family Theatre's production at the Chanhassen Performing Arts Center follows self-absorbed linguist Henry Higgins as he attempts to train Eliza how to speak properly -- though she's much smarter than he realizes. With a feisty leading lady and a score full of instantly recognizable songs like "The Rain in Spain," "Wouldn't It Be Loverly" and "I Could Have Danced All Night," it's no wonder My Fair Lady has long been the standard by which other musicals are measured.
