What You'll Get
If humankind never learned to play with its food, it would never have learned to play with its ingredients, and the world would be one bereft bowl of gruel. Taste the fruits of culinary creativity in the comfort of your home with today’s Groupon: for $99, you receive a gourmet private dinner for two from Chef k2 (a $200 value). This is valid only for homes in Monroe County.
Kristin Klock, who earned her chef-hood in California’s Bay area, brandishes her culinary prowess in home kitchens all around the area, handcrafting seasonal dishes using fresh, local, and organic ingredients. Meals, culled from her pre-arranged menus, are customizable to preference, but certain menu substitutions and an optional wine pairing will incur additional charges. After arriving at a client’s home, setting the table, and settling into the kitchen, Chef Klock gets to work prying open appetites with a starter of citrus salad brimming with herbs, garbanzo, and quinoa, the ancient grain of the Incas renowned for its benefits to the human body and the adept Scrabble player. Spears of organic grilled asparagus, punctuated by roasted cherry tomatoes, goat-cheese crumbles, and balsamic reduction, complement the main-plate events of roasted salmon or seared beef tenderloin with kalamata-and-sundried-tomato caponata. Conclude meals with a flourless chocolate cake topped with organic ice cream, which makes for a more memorable grand finale than giving a speech or mounting a tabletop staging of Cirque du Soleil.
Having studied in many kitchens and at the Professional Culinary Institute, Klock found her own style and passion in experimentation, concocting distinctive recipes and contentious theories on frankensteining flavors from lifeless ingredients.
