Though the Caribbean isles are well-known to outsiders, Caribbean cuisine remains a hidden gem because of tourists frequently subsisting solely off a paste made from sand, ocean water, and pureed linen pants. Uncover the edible treasure of the tropics with today’s Groupon: for $15, you get $35 worth of Caribbean cuisine and drinks at Chef Rob's Caribbean Cafe in Sandy Springs.
Drawing on his Culinary Institute of America education, Chef Rob colors his vibrant lunch and dinner menus with a collection of expertly crafted, traditional Caribbean dishes. Ignite evening appetites with the grilled shrimp skewers, which come drizzled, like a professional spring breaker, in pina-colada sauce and accompanied with a sizzling-hot grilled pineapple ($10). Classic Caribbean concoctions island hop from kitchen to table in the form of braised beef oxtails ($17), curry goat ($16), and Cuban lime chicken, supplemented with sautéed onions and mushrooms and swimming in a savory lime sauce ($14.50). Vegetarians can exercise their cellulose shredders with the vegetable delight ($12.50) or the rasta pasta, a medley of grilled vegetables, bok choy, butter beans, and mushrooms pampered in coconut milk and lying, like narcoleptic nutrition, atop a bed of fettuccine pasta ($12.95).
Wide booth seating, warmly colored walls, and bright images reflective of the islands imbue Chef Rob's with a casually fun feel akin to playing paintball in your pajamas. Chef Rob's passion for fine food beams off of plates—and has garnered the attention of celebrities such as Russell Simmons, P. Diddy, L.A. Reid, and the first contestant kicked off Survivor.

About Chef Robs Caribbean Cafe
Robert Gayle, the executive chef and owner of Chef Rob's Caribbean Cafe, combines his Caribbean background with a Culinary Institute of America education, gathering flavors from around the world to refine a menu of island comfort fare. After spending his childhood in Jamaica and the West Indies, Chef Rob relocated to the United States and began to develop his culinary lobe at age 13 by working as a steward in Brooklyn. His skills and prestige steadily increased over time, allowing him to eventually open P. Diddy's Atlanta venture, Justin's Restaurant, in 1997 and prepare meals for such celebrities as Jennifer Lopez and Akon.
Chef Rob's mental rolodex includes recipes for curried goat, dry-rubbed spare ribs, and his signature spicy jerk seasoning, which he massages into mesquite-grilled chicken. For lighter nighttime fare, diners can convene in the newly opened Chef Rob's Upscale Lounge for hookah, top-shelf cocktails, satisfying tapas, and signature wines. The contemporary furniture completes the swanky atmosphere.
