Boasting more than 25 years of salon experience, manicurist Elena Perrou imports European beauty treatments from her Romanian homeland to pamper landlocked fingers and toes. The board-certified aesthetician stalks little piggies one by one, clipping, trimming, and shaping toenails during a pampering pedicure before turning her attention to the tiny top hats that hover atop fingertips. Elena brings a delicate touch to cuticles during manicures, preparing fingers for more elegant piano playing or bobcat tickling. Following the roughly 90-minute session, guests can stretch their newly dapper digits by handling Cheveux Salon’s collection of purchasable scarves, earrings, and watches, which suffer from low self-esteem because of their unkempt hands (this Groupon is not valid for merchandise).
If Elena Perrou ever needed inspiration for her salon’s hair-coloring treatments, she would do well to pull out her well-stamped passport. After leaving her native Romania, Elena completed training as an aesthetician and manicurist at New York’s Christine Valmy International School for Esthetics, Skin Care and Makeup. She even made a pit stop at beauty school in Europe along the way, but it wasn’t until she landed in North Carolina that she settled down and opened the doors to Cheveux Salon.
Today, Elena showcases her skills alongside a team of stylists who draw on Pureology, Redken, and Agadir products to create flattering hairstyles. Elena stocks the shelves of her intimate salon with Afterglow Cosmetics mineral makeup, specialty soaps from Woodsprite and Charlie’s, and fashion accessories that range from trendy watches and glimmering earrings to scarves that double as ineffectual beach towels.
