Absolutely delicious!
Ruthie H. · November 13, 2011
The food and service are excellent. It's my favorite restaurant. The price is a higher than Cafe Provencal, which is also good, but I like the ambience at Chez Leon.

What You'll Get

The French have given the United States many tremendous gifts, such as the Statue of Liberty and the current Statue of Liberty, which subdued the first one after lightning made it evil. Indulge in other gallant Gallic offerings with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $43 worth of classic French fare and wine at Chez Leon, located on Forsyth Boulevard. Chez Leon has earned an abundance of accolades, including St. Louis Magazine's "A-List 2010" for "romantic dining". This Groupon is not valid on holidays or special events.

Chez Leon's dinner menu previews the promises of cleanly executed French cuisine, crafted with top-quality ingredients under the meticulous eye of new executive chef Marcel Keraval. Commence consumption with the moules marinière, a wanton assembly of steamed mussels served in a bacchanal of white wine, shallots, and parsley ($12), or the coquilles St. Jacques à l'estragon (seared scallops with tarragon beurre blanc, $12), demure denizens of the deep suitable for introduction to nosy mothers and robot chambermaids alike. Principal plates include the rôti de poulet au jus de truffles (roasted chicken with truffle sauce, $30) and the quintessentially French steak frites maître d'hôtel (a grilled strip steak with house-made fries, $30). A rotating three-course prix-fixe menu ($43) is available for patrons fearing mispronunciation mockery.

Darkly hued walls, whimsical still lifes, and a stately chandelier make Chez Leon an elegant stage for interpretations of Gérard Depardieu's acclaimed performance in 102 Dalmatians. Select a luxurious wine to complement a lavish meal, and empathize with the caterers of the Tennis Court Oath for their unwavering dedication to French excellence. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Reviews

Let's Dish featured Chez Leon. St. Louis Magazine rated it the "most romantic" on the 2010 A-List and named it one of the 35 best restaurants in St. Louis. The Riverfront Times named it the Best Place to Eat Out Alone in 2008.

  • The dark walls, the thick drapery, and the opulent, glittery chandelier—the setting is a mecca of romantic potential. If your relationship doesn’t blossom (or at least bud) over a plate of dangerously glorious foie gras there, Mom was right: Call it quits—you can do better. – St. Louis Magazine
  • Sit at a sidewalk table and imagine you're in the Fourth Arrondissement watching tout le monde go by. Join the regulars perched on their stools in the bar, chatting and enjoying a salade Lyonnaise or the choucroute garnie. – Riverfront Times
