Chicago Botanic Garden

The Chicago Botanic Garden has grown into an internationally recognized living museum that extols the values of horticultural education and conservation. The 27 gardens, four natural areas, and nine islands brim with approximately 2.6 million plants, including various perennials, bulbs, and novelty flowers. Each area showcases a specialized selection of picturesque flora that can include anything from native prairie plants to japanese bonsai trees. Three indoor greenhouses display tropical, semi-tropical, and arid plants.

Apart from presenting visitors with a representative swath of the plant kingdom, Chicago Botanic Garden also strives to protect that kingdom for future generations. The research laboratories work to build seed banks while studying ways to combat the ravages of extinction, pollution, and climate change around the world.

Customer Reviews

I love Botanic Garden. I became a member because it is such a nice place to visit.

The train exhibit was spectacular! My 2 and 3 year old loved looking at the tiny recreations of Chicago. It was perfect for a cold winter day. We enjoyed the beautiful greenhouses as well as the extra activities set up for the train exhibit (e.g. making snowflakes out of coffee filters, making a bird feeder, etc.). Can't wait to visit the gardens when it is warmed out, but this exhibit will be a yearly event for our family now!

Though I may have intentions to go to the Botanic Garden, it seems something else always comes up. The Groupon was a great motivator to finally get my family there. We enjoyed our time there.
