Set in early '90s Chicago, Beautiful Autistic shines a spotlight on Jimmy, a 24 year old man who has a terrible time making friends. He's a good-looking guy and all, but when it comes to casually bantering in bars, well, Jimmy can't keep from rattling off obscure facts about nanotechnology and dark matter, which others tend to find off-putting. But Jimmy, who's autistic and simply can't control his lack of social graces, soon meets Eric -- who is every inch as awkward. And when Eric decides to take Jimmy along as his wingman, dispensing ill-conceived advice about the art of the pick-up, things really start to get funny. Beautiful Autistic was written by Chicago Dramatist's resident playwright Scott Woldman, recipient of the Edgerton Foundation New Play Award.
