What You'll Get

Time traveling to movie sets was outlawed when an extratemporal visitor tripped over a cable on the set of Baby's Day Out, creating an alternate universe where that film won Best Picture. Enjoy a legal immersion into film history with today's Groupon: for $15, you get a two-hour bus tour of Chicago's cinematic landmarks from Chicago Film Tour (a $30 value). Chicago Film Tour currently has two daily tours scheduled Thursday through Sunday; however, they are willing to add more tours or use larger buses to accommodate demand.

Chicago Film Tour takes motley movie lovers and sundry cinemaniacs on a trek around the Windy City to showcase some of the locations featured prominently in both classic and contemporary films. Upon booking a ticket for the tour, passengers will board Chicago Film Tour's motor coach and be whisked away on a guided exploration of more than 30 shooting locations featured in more than 50 films. The bus is equipped with video screens showing the movie scenes filmed at each of the tour's stops. Feel the ghost of Matthew Broderick's youth haunt locations from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Spark an internal debate about the ever-changing definition of good and evil in a morally gray world of unchecked chaos with locations featured in The Dark Knight. Or set out on a mission from an unnamed deity to resurrect John Belushi after the tour, using the arcane knowledge gained from the in-bus viewing of shooting locations for The Blue Brothers. Other films featured on the tour include The Fugitive, North by Northwest, The Sting, and The Break-Up. Along the way, you'll also learn film lingo, delightful behind-the-scenes trivia, and the history of Chicago filmmaking.

With pick-up next to the Rock 'n' Roll McDonald's on Clark Street, the tour runs approximately two hours—or nearly one viewing of Road to Perdition, also featured on the tour—though tour length depends on traffic and weather, much like most Chicago film productions. Take a break from writing your epic biopic of Toni Kukoc and gain fresh inspiration from Chicago Film Tour's up-close look at Midwestern movie magic.
