Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

What if I buy a $119 ticket but don't use it by June 9th for some reason? Is it still good for later in the season?

Ted M.  asked on  Apr 10, 2013

A:

Vouchers expiring Jun 9, 2013 can be converted to an Aug 31, 2013 expiration for only the difference in price of $20 between the Jun 9 voucher ($119) and the Aug 31 voucher ($139). If your sail is cancelled by your captain due to conditions and you don't sail by Jun 9, you will be able to use it through Jun 20 without having to pay the $20 conversion.

Q:

I have 6 people that would like to go on a sailing. How can I do this- I would like to buy the Groupon and use for all, but looks like its 1 per visis. Would each of them have to buy one and book themselves? Please advise.

Erin D.  asked on  Apr 17, 2013

A:

Hi Erin, If you have a group of 6, a 3 hour private charter (as opposed to 2.5 or 2 hour semi-private ) for up to 6 people is a better value and potentially less expensive for you (starting at $390 on weekdays and $450 on weekends) since the best value of the semi-private vouchers is for groups of 2 and 4. Should you prefer the semi-private route for your group of 6, you are correct that each voucher is good for 2 people, so yes, you would need 3 vouchers for 6 people and would make a single reservation for all 6 people at: http://www.chicagosailboatcharters.com/Semi-Private/Chicago-Sailboat-Tickets.aspx It does not matter if 1 person buys all 3 or 3 people buy them separately. We don't apply the "1 per visit" to groups of 4 or 6 booking a semi-private sail together (this is more for people who decide to use the "paid value" of vouchers to apply towards a private sail). Cheers, Marty

Season Pass holders can take advantage of FREE* last minute sailing up to 18 hours in advance. If there are seats left available 18 hours or less in advance, and there are many short-term seats available throughout the season, season pass holders can book 2 seats online for themselves and pay only the 9% tax (for upgrade sails such as fireworks etc. the upgrade fee will also be due). * NOTE: Season ticket holders pay only the tax on last minute standard semi-private sail, and also pay any applicable upgrade fees for upgrade sails such as fireworks, etc.
