The diaries of Lewis and Clark are filled with cantankerous laments about having to tour the wilderness by foot and the startling lack of trailside fast-food options. Equip yourself with a discoverer's eyes and a Robocop's wheels with today's deal. For $46, you can choose from one evening tour (a $65 value) or one Glide at Night tour (a $75 value) with Chicago Segway Tour. All tours launch from Lake Point Tower, located across from Navy Pier. All riders must be 13 or older with parental consent, or 18 and older without.
Every evening at 5:30, sightseers meet up at Chicago's lakefront to strap on a new pair of Seg-legs. You can choose between a pair of two-hour evening tours, either the Lakefront Tour or Northern Adventure, departing at 6 p.m. The Lakefront Tour rolls down the shore along DuSable Harbor and Monroe Harbor. After immersing themselves in the elegance of Buckingham Fountain, lovers of marriage and crudely produced sitcoms can go together like a Segway and carriage and figuratively immerse themselves in the contemporary elegance of Millennium Park. Meanwhile, the Northern Adventure Tour soaks in the elegance of Lake Michigan as it cruises disruptively through beach spots en route to Lincoln Park notables such as the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and Lincoln Park Zoo.
Fireworks light up hearts, faces, and annual baseball games played on sandlots. Several times a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day at Navy Pier, waterside fireworks launch off to the delight of countless dilated pupils. Be there, and be on wheels, when the show begins during a Glide at Night tour. Similar to the evening lakefront tour, but with a more rebellious curfew, the glide at night tour runs Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (there are no fireworks on Fridays). The tour meets at 8 p.m., departs at 8:30 p.m., and comes to a close around 10 p.m. as all powerful Segway pilots return to civilian life, once again limited by genetically determined stride length.
