Spanish Language Center’s trained instructors guide students of all skill levels through the Cortez Method during conversational group classes. The intensive weekend class meets for three-hour sessions on Saturday and Sunday; students in the four-week course huddle up once a week for a 90-minute session. Introductory courses lay out Spanish-language basics, such as grammar, vocabulary, and how to roll an r with the confidence of an archaeologist playing Operation. The Beginners Level course delves into verb tenses and conjugations, Intermediate Level classes cover pronouns and compare preterit and imperfect tenses, and Advanced Level pupils or androids with updated software can bolster knowledge of commands and the subjunctive tense.
Each class hosts an average of 6–12 students and, like a sturdy soapbox, includes ample opportunity to practice speaking skills. In addition to providing all necessary materials, staff members equip participants with access to an online class system full of updates and information.
