What You'll Get
Of all the flightless birds, chickens remain America’s favorite kind to eat, narrowly beating out penguins, kiwis, and Larry Bird. Make bird the word with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of southern fare at Chicken-N-More.
Owner Bob Hemphill brings a taste of his Texas roots and his own line of barbeque sauce to Chicken-N-More’s hearty menu of savory southern classics. Start with a staple and cozy up to a chicken dinner—a platter of juicy fried chicken and two sides, including red beans and rice, potato salad, and chili ($6.65+). Continue the carnivorous cavalcade with the tender ribs, which sate home-cookout urgings and avoid the hassles of cleanup and pantsless barbecue crashers ($3.45+/rib). Patrons pining for seafood can exercise incisors around the farm-raised Alabama catfish sandwich ($6.69) while soaking in the southern hospitality that effervesces across Chicken-N-More’s art-adorned wood-paneled walls, wood floors, wooden booths, and diners’ wooden teeth.

CHKN-N-MO founder Bob Hemphill moved to Spokane, he brought the flavors of his native Texas with him. Here, white and dark-meat fried chicken perfectly compliment sides such as hush puppies and gumbo, while rolls sidle up to orders of ribs. Sandwiches range from barbecued brisket and pulled pork to farm-raised Alabama catfish, and guests can finish their meal with a peach cobbler or a sweet-potato pie. CHKN-N-MO also crafts its own famous sweet-tart Old South Barbeque sauce sauce, sold by the pint.
Inside, you’ll find the walls plastered with old pictures, license plates from across the country, and sports jerseys given to the restaurant by local teams. In an interview with The Inlander, Bob said that players from the Gonzaga and Eastern Washington basketball teams eat at CHKN-N-MO all the time.
