They deserved 10 stars!! Eugenia walked us to the local park, herbal shop...but the fortune cookie factory was awesome! The tea room was pretty neat and the Buddhist temple interesting. Eugenia was so patient and answered all our questions, showed pictures from the past... amazing time. We all enjoyed including 2 teens. Parking is under hotel where you meet. Walking was reasonable.

It's not uncommon for a resident to only explore a city's iconic sights when guests come to town, or after practicing hypnosis in a mirror leads to amnesia. Explore one of San Francisco's cultural centers with today's Groupon: for $30, you get admission for two to a Chinatown Heritage Walking Tour from the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco (up to a $60 value). Tours depart from the Chinese Culture Center Gallery on Saturdays at 10 a.m.

The Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco endeavors to elevate the arts and culture of one of America's first Chinatowns, which is also one of the largest Chinese communities outside of Asia. Since 1973, the CCC has hosted 100 exhibitions, and 33,000 visitors engaged in their programs in 2010 alone. A two-hour Chinatown Heritage Walking Tour guides visitors through the narrow, winding streets of the city's vibrant Chinatown, stopping at temples, herb and tea shops, architectural and historical sites, and the occasional red octagon. Titled "A Tale of Two Chinatowns," this tour provides history behind a variety of sites and discusses the evolution of Chinatown's culture. Most tours will visit the salient sites of Portsmouth Square, Tin How Temple, the Chinese produce markets, and the fortune cookie factory.

Since the Chinese Culture Center is a nonprofit organization, all proceeds go toward bolstering the neighborhood's artistic and cultural pursuits and protecting them with a large brick wall. Those wishing to eat lunch on their tour can do so for an extra fee.
