As practiced in ancient Chinese medicine, acupuncture rebalances the flow of energy through the body. Whether being practiced in its traditional or Western forms, acupuncture uses fine needles to target the body’s 12 meridians and redistribute energy. Patients look to these treatments for relief from pain and allergies, to stimulate weight loss, or even to cope with stress and its related symptoms.
Christina Bird Acupuncture
When Christina Bird first began studying the human body, she was mostly interested in movement. She earned a BA in athletic training before spending 3.5 years as a personal trainer, during which time she analyzed the body with the end goal of maximizing bodily strength and performance. But after reading a book on alternative medicines, she was inspired to enrich her education. She enrolled in the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, where she learned about Eastern wellness therapies, nutrition, and herbology. In the course of her studies, she became partial to acupuncture, particularly after witnessing the pain relief it provided to oncology and hematology patients at Rady Children's Hospital.
Today, she operates her own practice at Christina Bird Acupuncture. She works with clients who are tackling acute and chronic ailments as well as those just seeking relaxation. The initial session includes a consultation to determine each visitor's health issues, lifestyle, and goals for treatment, which Christina uses to design a custom treatment plan. She has worked with patients on everything from headaches and PMS to insomnia and sciatica. After their initial round of sessions, many clients revert to a monthly or quarterly maintenance schedule.
