Cider Swig - The Greater Peninsula Cider Festival takes place on Saturday, September 26, from noon to 5 p.m. Five drink tokens, commemorative festival glass, and access to music, food, Apple Launch Challenge, Kids Apple Zone, and other activities. Additional tokens available at festival.
Isaac Newton may have ascribed gravity to a falling apple, but how could he explain one soaring through the sky? He'd probably say it's time for Cider Swig, where young revelers launch apples as part of the annual celebration of regional cuisine, music, and—of course—cider. Apple launching is just one of the many activities at the Kids Apple Zone which includes drop-off access. As for the festival's signature beverage, more than 20 cider makers bring along more than 80 different varieties to pair with snacks such as grilled oysters, barbecue ribs, Asian fusion, Caribbean jerk, American classics, and southern-style pulled pork. Five local bands take the stage providing an array of tunes including, Creole La La, Rock and Roll, Zydeco, and Gypsy Groove music. This large event is presented by the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation in partnership with the City of Gig Harbor and PenMet and Key Pen Parks.
