At standard boot camp, Cindy motivates students as they perform cardio, muscular-endurance, and plyometrics moves, blended with spurts of calisthenics and core work. She keeps groups small to maximize individual attention throughout this 60-minute workout. At kettlebell boot camp, which is appropriate for moderately active exercisers, iron weights strengthen and sculpt muscles as attendees execute swings with perfect form.

Standard boot camps meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Central Park—weather permitting—at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. or in a Manhattan studio on rainy days. One-hour kettlebell boot camp meets at John A. Seravalli Park on Monday nights and Saturday mornings. See the full class schedule.

Feeling unsatisfied with her role in corporate America, Cindy Lai abandoned her pumps for a pair of sneakers, embracing her true passion by creating Cindy Lai Fitness. Now a certified personal trainer, CrossFit instructor, and kettlebell sport coach, Cindy fills her days with personal-training and boot-camp sessions. Her personal-training clients get one-on-one attention, while boot campers get challenging workouts in a small-group atmosphere. Both types of sessions blend Cindy's personal interests—ranging from Pilates to running—into routines, which she designs to be as fun and engaging as a diamond ring that squirts out champagne.
