Before photography, the only way people could preserve their most treasured memories was by forcing everyone around them to stand completely still for days at a time. Today's Groupon presents a less complicated option: for $49, you get a photography session with prints and picture files from Cindy Sherman Photography (a $615 total value). Your one-and-a-half-hour session can take place at Cindy Sherman's beautifully appointed studio or at a location of your choice—Sherman will travel within 20 miles of her W. Teakwood Drive studio at no charge. After your session (a $125 value), you'll receive one 5"x7" print ($70 each), two 4"x6" prints ($70 each), and four low-resolution, copyright-stamped, electronic-use-only JPEGs ($70 each).
Though Cindy Sherman didn't invent the camera, that doesn't mean she won't invent it someday in an alternate universe wherein cameras have yet to be invented. The skilled shutterbug has been snapping shots since she was 12 years old, and, in college, she studied under a photographer trained by acclaimed landscape-lassoer Ansel Adams. Put Sherman's nurturing directorial skills and time-freezing talents to the test by having her coax natural smiles out of a child, soon-to-be mom, high-school senior, or family member. You can also use your session to commemorate the joys of the spring season or the promise of potential in a post-graduation smile.
Sherman invites her subjects to bring along any props, friends, or statues of Bruce Lee that might enhance images' aesthetics, but her studio is so well-equipped that nothing more than a winsome smile is needed to set the stage. Both indoor and outdoor locations are available; a one-acre portrait garden includes many sets, such as a beach, castle wall, weeping willow, barn, and a 1946 Chevy. Capture your visage on film so that future generations will know what the world's third-best unicyclist looked like with a photo session from Cindy Sherman Photography.
