What You'll Get
Traditional theater draws a whirlwind of emotions from the audience, and contemporary graffiti theater draws the emotions right on the patrons. Enjoy drama sans the permanent tragedy mask with today’s Groupon: for $24, you get two tickets to any play or musical at Circle Theatre in Oak Park (up to a $52 value).
Circle Theatre’s artist-based company elicits both laughter and tears from audiences with an array of dramas, comedies, musicals, and premieres produced throughout the year. The talented in-house troupe puts on both plays and musicals, with upcoming shows including Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music and Clare Booth Luce’s The Women. Guests this month can exercise laughter glands with weekly offerings of the Jeff Recommended comedy The Man Who Came to Dinner. Heavily laden with high jinks, the snicker-snaring script follows the recovery of an eccentric theater critic and radio personality who commandeers the home of a Midwest factory owner after injuring himself in a fall on his steps.
Circle Theatre, which has been evoking emotions since 1985, charges itself with producing refreshing bursts of artistic excitement for its discerning Chicagoland audience. The ensemble of creatively minded reality-crafters spice up their lives with nights spent designing sets, writing original scripts, directing, singing, and acting.
