What You'll Get
Bored with her life as a hairstylist, the 20-something Rita decides to go back to school. Her middle-aged, alcoholic and divorced professor Frank has taken on the tutorship to pay his bar tabs. Naturally, the two have a profound effect on one other, each opening the other's eyes -- until Rita's blue-collar husband becomes frustrated with her new path. With notes of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion (and its musical adaptation My Fair Lady), Educating Rita is a comedy that delves into the concepts of freedom, change and class. Funny and smart, the play takes the stage at Citadel Theatre.
