City Ballet of Los Angeles shakes things up for the holidays with their unique twist on the traditional holiday ballet, The Nutcracker Swings. In this 10-year anniversary production, the familiar Tchaikovsky score mingles with the swinging sounds of Duke Ellington's jazzy take on The Nutcracker Suite in this version of the story set in Los Angeles' Hancock Park in the 1940s. Maria is given a nutcracker by her love Jim, a soldier on leave for the holidays. The gift triggers a magical journey around the world and into a holiday wonderland. This ballet features young performers from the City Ballet school as well as members of the ballet company at the historic Ebell Theater.
This performance runs approximately 90 minutes.
