$150 for General Admission to Charitable Summer in the City Event on June 19
From 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, crowds will descend on the Metropolitan Pavilion to show their support for City Harvest—an organization committed to feeding hungry New Yorkers throughout the city's five boroughs. This Summer in the City event will feature tasting plates from more than 30 New York chefs and restaurants; wine, cocktails, and beer from local breweries; and live musical performances by Rakiem Walker Project and Howie Day. Attendees will also have a chance to win culinary, travel, and entertainment prizes through a raffle and silent auction.
All proceeds from general admission and the evening's other fundraising efforts will help City Harvest achieve its goal of collecting and distributing 42 million pounds of food this year.
City Harvest pioneered food rescue in 1982, and this year, will collect 55 million pounds of excess food to help feed the nearly 1.4 million New Yorkers struggling to put meals on their tables. Through relationships with farms, restaurants, grocers and manufacturers, City Harvest collects nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries and other community food programs across New York City’s five boroughs. City Harvest also takes a long-term approach to hunger relief through its Healthy Neighborhoods initiative.
