The contemporary meets the classical in this intimate evening of Bunch and Brahms. Violinist and composer Kenji Bunch was born in 1973, and his compositions are decidedly new and full of modern twists. Contrast those with the music of composer Johannes Brahms, born 140 years earlier, and you've got yourself an evening of innovative juxtapositions in an intimate salon setting. Baltimore Symphony Orchestra violist Karin Brown will perform works by both composers as part of the Sfz Salon Series. The series is named for the musical annotation "sfz," which is short for "sforzando," the instruction to play a note or a chord with extra accent. You'll hear plenty of those during this evening at Kentlands Mansion.
