If any larger-than-life character from literature and mythology is suited to be the subject of a comic opera, Robin Hood is surely close to the top of the list. Robin Hood, written by Reginald De Koven and performed by the Victorian Lyric Opera company, tells the familiar tale of the swashbuckling nobleman who robs from the rich and gives to the poor. Aided by his band of Merry Men, he must rescue the beautiful Maid Marion while doing battle with the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. This is the first time the company has performed Robin Hood in its 37-year history, so don't miss it at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville.
