One of the pioneers of punk rock brings the raw musical attitude that shocked a generation to a concert at City Winery Chicago. Coming out of L.A., X was known for their jet-fueled blend of punk, rockabilly and blues. Founding members John Doe and Exene Cervenka are still major figures on the underground music scene, and their song “Los Angeles” remains an anthem for young West Coast punks. Unlike so many bands from the era, X is not only still going strong, but it’s still touring with its original members. Don’t miss your chance to see a glimpse of what music was like in 1980. Also performing will be special guest Jesse Dayton. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to benefit Billy Zoom, one of X’s founders who is currently battling cancer.
