Getting out of the house is often precluded by inclement weather, car trouble, and the tender bond between man and household dust mite. Step outside your domestic comfort zone with today's Groupon: for $45, you get entry for two people into the Austin CityScape Adventure race (a $150 value), held Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m.

CityScape Adventure entangles race participants in a web of 12 puzzles and challenges in a citywide race to the finish line. Participants compete in teams of two, using their wits, teamwork, and underground network of mutant-turtle spies to complete the tasks given at the start of the race. The 12 challenges take the form of puzzles, riddles, and clues that guide treasure-hunters to a specific location within the city, where each team must complete a special task using only their cleverness and muscles. Participants must bring a selection of items, including a digital camera, pen or pencil, $10 each in singles for public transportation or emergency slushies, and comfortable shoes. The first team to successfully complete all tasks and vault the finish line will receive a prize and assembly line of high-fives.

Check-in for the five-hour race begins at 11 a.m. at Aussie's Bar & Grill on Barton Springs Road, and the race begins at noon and commences come rain, shine, or meteor shower. CityScape Adventure welcomes teams of friends and family members, although each team must have at least one adult, and children younger than 12 are not allowed to compete. Questing competitors should follow CityScape Adventure on Facebook for an extra sprinkling of hints on race day.

We had a really fun time and we are definitely doing it again!

Very nicely done! We enjoyed it.

The scavenger hunt was a blast. However, since it was a virtual race, we got stuck without wifi on some parts of the Riverwalk. Sprint thru those crosswalks, have your phones fully charged, and just have fun. Enjoy the city and the historic spots!
