Held October 5-6 at historic Sonoma Raceway, The Charity Challenge pits historic and vintage racecars against each other in eight different race groups. The classic vehicles, each built between the 30s and 70s, include Ferraris, Porsches, Lotuses, Alfa Romeos, and Maseratis that lit up tracks during ‘60s GT races, as well as purpose-built racers from Brabham, March, McLaren, and others. In addition to pursuing the glory of the checkered flag, racers also compete to raise funds for Speedway Children’s Charities.
Each ticket includes parking and access to all spectator areas, including grandstands and the paddock. Additionally, visitors who arrive in the morning can opt to purchase a Charity Track Ride with the driver of their favorite car on race day. The cost of this privilege varies depending on the vehicle in question and is tax deductible.
Classic Sports Racing Group
A non-profit club founded in 1968, Classic Sports Racing Group was established to uphold the appreciation, preservation, and use of vintage cars–particularly those built during the 1950s, '60s, and '70s. Today, the group celebrates these race cars with races at tracks around Northern California. These events emphasize general participation over wins and losses, showcasing cars as pieces of history instead of just competitive tools. Car types run the gamut from Production cars to Formula cars, Trans-Am, Can-Am & Sports Racers such as those that ran at Le Mans.
