Participants select a piece of bisque pottery (up to a $22 value), such as a dinner plate, latte mug, or vase, before embellishing their chosen item with brushstrokes of multicolored paints. Each open-ended session includes all painting materials, glazing, and firing (an $8 value). Guests may also bring their own libations to sip throughout the visit.

Clay Café

When owner Julie Byrne founded Clay Café in 1996, she wanted to establish a cozy, unpretentious environment where families could spend quality time pottery-painting and embarking on other art projects. Describing what she envisioned to the Columbus Dispatch, Byrne stated, “We kind of wanted a grandma kitchen—something homey.” At Clay Café, visitors might forget they’re not relaxing in their own homes amid the studio’s popular mismatched chairs and flower tablecloths.

Customer Reviews

We love this place! A blank ceramic can be kind of daunting, but the staff is always incredibly helpful and will provide a lot of ideas. Every time we go, they have a different selection of pieces, so I haven't gotten tired of anything yet!

Had a fabulous time at Clay Cafe with my friend. It was the perfect girls day as we painted and talked. Looking forward to seeing the final product!

We had a girls night at Clay Café and it was a lot of fun. You can bring in your own beverages and snacks which is nice. The staff is very helpful and offers plenty of instructions for new painters.
