Clay Escape - Fort Mill: $15 for $30 Worth of Paint-Your-Own Pottery at Clay Escape in Fort Mill

Ceramics, like horror-movie villains, only grow stronger and more resilient when plunged into flames. Undergo trial by fire with today’s Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of paint-your-own pottery at Clay Escape in Fort Mill.

Imaginations conflagrate at Clay Escape, where customers pick their own ceramics, paints, and designs for a fully customized creative experience. Browse the variety of paint-your-own options, including garden accent pieces ($20 for a butterfly plaque), kitchen serve ware ($20–26 for a dinner plate, $12–$15 for a dessert plate), and ceramic animals ($12 for a clown fish, $24 for an XL sitting cat). Seventy-four colors of pottery paint jostle for attention, including varieties of puff paint, sparkling hues, and 92 specialty glazes.

Customers can choose from a host of stencils, sponges, and computerized designs, or let imaginations roam free with depictions of Alex Trebek as a cowboy. Clay Escape’s environment allows for artistic solace, chatty painting among friends, and family outings complete with color-ownership squabbles and political debates thinly veiled by discussion of paint districting. After customers finish their masterworks, ceramic pieces are then kiln-fired and ready for pickup in one week.

ClayEscape

At ClayEscape, hundreds of blank clay pieces line the walls, waiting for a new life in someone’s garden, kitchen, or dining room. Instructors help visitors pick the piece that best suits their artistic intention, and then painters go to work selecting from more than 90 paint colors and 68 specialty glazes with which to decorate their pottery. Stencils, stamps, and sponges help fuel the artistic process. One week later, pieces emerge shiny and brilliant, ready to take home. ClayEscape also hosts private parties for events such as birthdays, bridal showers, Girl Scouts, and lady's nights, and it also holds special events for holidays such as Mother's Day. Summer camps are also available.

You are not making the clay objects but painting them. Had lots of fun though many options and good for kids and adults.
