Clay Oven Indian Restaurant
Drawing inspiration from near and far, Clay Oven Indian Restaurant's chefs use locally sourced produce and imported spices to create regional South Asian cuisine. Bold flavors and rich sauces resonated with voters in the LEO Weekly 2014 Readers' Choice Awards, helping the eatery make the list of Best Indian Restaurants and win the title of Best New Restaurant.
Fittingly, the kitchen's clay tandoor oven forges many of the restaurant's specialty dishes. Skewered jumbo shrimp, chicken, and Australian lamb chops all roast above smoldering coals and arrive at tables with orders of dal makhani, which the Courier-Journal deemed, "as luxurious a bowl of lentils, beans, and spices as you could ever hope to find." Eclectic curries, vegetarian entrees, and traditional Nepalese dishes round out the menu's selection.
Clay Oven Indian Restaurant's dining area shares the vibrant character of its menu. An ornate chandelier dangles in the center of the room, although separate lights lend the space its golden and royal-purple glow. A mural spans one entire wall, depicting an oasis with majestic elephants treading around emerald-hued islands of mint chutney.
