Archaeologists examine ancient pottery to identify a culture’s preferred cooking methods and to determine which of its members was the World’s Greatest Dad. Make timeless memories with today’s Groupon at Clayote. Choose between the following options:
- For $15, you get a BYOB “wheel ‘n’ wine” session (up to a $30 value).
- For $25, you get a BYOB “wheel ‘n’ wine” session for two (up to a $60 value).
Wheel ‘n’ wine sessions take place Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays as early as 5:30, and include the following for each person:
* 1.5 pounds of clay (a $25 value)
* Raku glazing for one pot (a $5 value). Additional glazes will cost $5 extra, but the glazing fee will be waived for patrons who take other Clayote classes.
During Clayote’s two-hour wheel ‘n’ wine courses, instructors teach pupils to transmogrify 1.5 pounds of raw clay into a smooth-sided ceramic vessel. Sculptors mold mud as it spins atop a pottery wheel, creating a slightly receptacle that can be filled with knickknacks and eventually broken over an intruder’s head. At the end of each mud-slinging session, patrons partake in a BYOB potluck with their classmates. Masterpieces spend 2–3 weeks at the studio as staff fire, glaze, hire, and fire them again to ready them for pickup.
