What You'll Get
Less prone to explosions, bird collisions, and painful butt-burns, the Segway has edged out the jetpack as the official ride of the 23rd century. Today's Groupon gives you the chance to practice on these leisurely chariots of fire, lest the future overtake you at 12.5 miles per hour: for $35, you get a two-and-a-half-hour Segway tour from Orlando Gliders Segway Adventures located at Sleuth’s Mystery Theatre on International Drive (a $75 value). Riders must be at least 15 years old, weigh at least 100 pounds, and wear a helmet; those under 18 must have parental accompaniment.
Orlando Gliders Segway Adventures takes its guests on a relaxing, nonwalking stroll along I-Drive during the VIP Segway Tour. After a 30-minute driving lesson, hi-tech rollers set out to wander for 10 miles, stopping to sample snacks, play mini golf, and discover some of the drive’s secret passages and warp zones. The certified Segway-expert guide will keep participants in the know with sagacious comments and charismatic gesturing. Highlights of the journey include the resorts at Universal Studios, Titanic: The Experience, and the hideout where Walt Disney began developing Jello.
Segways, which are controlled by intuition, quickly respond to riders' every move, shifting the way travelers shift and dancing the way drivers dance. The VIP Segway Tour departs three times a day (9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m.) and is limited to six Segwayback riders per tour. Call ahead to check availability and schedule an excursion.
