Tennis pros Sam Keenan and Robert Menzies bring their international competitive and teaching experience to tennis clinics at Hawks Cay Resort. During the six-week Tennis 101 clinic, beginners learn the basic techniques of serving, forehand and backhand strokes, and playing at the net. They practice singles and doubles strategies and scorekeeping to prepare them for playing at the next level. The last 15 minutes of class often incorporate a game or challenge such as hitting a target or a matchup featuring two players versus one pro. Beginning Tuesday, January 15, the six-week beginner’s clinics run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Two to four people take part in the each 60-minute semiprivate clinic. After a brief warm-up, the tennis pros determine the skill level of the participants—ranging from intermediate to advanced—and help them improve their strokes and footwork.

Tennis pros Sam Keenan and Robert Menzies teach clinics and beginner's workshops to help player build their fundamentals into competitive abilities. Each new level will introduce more difficult shots and challenges to help students grow from beginners to advanced players. The beginner series and cardio tennis classes combine workouts with basic tennis techniques to provide a thorough understanding of the sport, while the clinics work on heightening individual skills with small groups of two or four. After their tennis workshops, patrons can enjoy the onsite restaurants, swimming pools, and spa facilities or go island hopping to see if they can eventually hit the South Pole.
