Q:

Hi, Youmentioned in an earlier response that "The $25 "Test Flight" is an introductory lesson to give those who have never had the opportunity to fly a power kite, to do so in a safe, controlled environment supervised by an instructor." For the $25 lesson, do students actually get to use go one a board in the water?

A:

One of the best things about "Kiteboarding" is flying the kite! These are not your average kites. They are the size of a truck, and fly in a space that is bigger than most homes. When piloted properly, they develop the power of a Thoroughbred, and by the way, you are harnessed to this Thoroughbred. If you have never flown a power kite, you haven't lived. But it is deffinately not something you want to try without having someone beside you who has flown one. Students need a min. of 5 hrs. Kite flying experience before they are given the board for thy're first water start.

Q:

So the class is all on land, no water?

peter F.  asked on  Sep 29, 2012

A:

While learning to Kiteboard has a pretty fast learning curve, there are specific skills that must be mastered. The first skill to master is flying the kite. In a students first 3 hr. lesson they will crash the kite 10 to 20 times. If that student was in the water, they would spend 2 of the 3 hours swimming, attempting to relaunch the kite. Those 2 hours would be much better spent practicing flight drills on the beach, with the kite in the sky.

Learn to launch, and land. Perform a variety of flight drills. Perform self landing, and learn self rescue technique. Oh ya, and crashing.

Q:

the groupon terms says Limit 1 per visit. does this mean that if I buy one groupon for myself and one for a friend as a gift, we cannot use the groupn the same day?

laurence o.  asked on  Sep 28, 2012

A:

You could buy 1 for yourself, and 1 for your friend as a gift. You each could redeem 1 on the same day. The 3 Hr. "Discovery Package" is limited to 2 students per class. If you want to take the class together, Make sure that when you schedule a class there are no other students in that time slot.

Q:

3 x the hourly rate is only $75 - so does the 3 hour course provide everything necessary [equipment] for someone who has only snowboarded to determine that this is something they can do and convince them to take up the hobby?

Andrew L.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

The $25 "Test Flight" is an introductory lesson to give those who have never had the opportunity to fly a power kite, to do so in a safe, controlled environment supervised by an instructor. The $129 "Discovery Package" is the first in a series of lessons designed to move you toward the end goal of taking your first ride on a Kiteboard. I wish I could tell you that kiteboarding is easier to learn than snowboarding. But there really is more to it . A good comparison might be like...snowboarding down the hill while playing Mario Kart on an iPad. I hope you'll decide to join us, you WON'T be disappointed !
