What You'll Get
The existence of prehistoric pottery shards paints a clear picture of ancient artisanal practices while highlighting ancestral clumsiness. Leave behind traces of your own civilization with today's Groupon to Cobbygoose in Milford. Choose between the following options:
- For $10, you get $20 worth of do-it-yourself pottery painting.
- For $25, you get two pottery-painting classes (a $50 value). Both classes must be taken by the same person.
At the Cobbygoose pottery-painting studio, budding creators can imbue a ceramic butterfly with colorful wings or emblazon a teapot with their TV wrestler name. Pottery-painters choose from a plethora of earthenware ($5–$100/item) and more than 50 hues of paint to daub atop their one-of-a-kind piece, which staff then dry, glaze, and fire in a kiln. Seven to ten days later, artists can pick up their finished product from Cobbygoose, or have it shipped to their house on currents of raw creativity. Studio fees for the creativity-fostering sessions run $6 for tots ages 6–11 and $9 for artists ages 12 and up.
During the first week of every month, Cobbygoose also hosts pottery-painting classes, each of which focuses on a different technique and project. Instructors teach apprentices how to render a convincing crackle effect on a ceramic dragonfly, or how to forge their initials on a jar of cookies. Paint, firing, and glassing are included, but the cost of the pieces painted is not.
