Unlike speedy in-and-out coffee shops, cafés indulge fantasies of sneaking off through misty European streets paved with pain au chocolat and lined with biscotti parking meters. Indulge in savory streetside fare with today’s Groupon: for $7, you get $14 worth of breakfast and lunch from Collage Catering & Café, located downtown on Broadway Street.
Each Collage Catering dish is crafted by Chef Nick Tittle, who draws from 12 years of diverse cooking experience to craft simple, delicious breakfast and lunch fare. Inside this casual café, day breaks with the foods that most resemble the sun; a ham-and-cheese croissant ($2.50) or a couple of poached eggs ($1.50, add $0.50 for cheese) are readily available for fast-breaking. Empty lunch pails chew on muffuletta sandwiches ($13.50 for whole, $8.50 for half) or build their own, playing Frankenstein with bread, meat, cheese, and more ($7.50, $3.50 for kids under 12; both come with chips). The southwest chicken salad employs crispy tortilla strips to guard beds of lettuce and spicy ranch dressing ($6.75). Tack a piece of carrot cake onto your meal’s tail, and engage all 67 billion of your taste-bud pals.
Chef Nick teamed up with his mother, Pam Corley, to launch Collage Catering in 2009, and has since expanded their culinary empire into café territory. Sneak in to their storefront, which features cool hues of exposed brick set against slick stainless steel, and stealthily dive into an athletic forward roll in an attempt to get at their coveted chicken salad recipe.
