Karen Berk loves to color so much, she’s done what every kid with a pack of Crayolas dreams of doing—she made a career out of it. But it isn’t the cartoon pages of coloring books to which she applies her art; it’s the heads of her clients. At Color by Karen, Berk changes hair hues with L’Oreal Professional products and bleaches strands using a gentle solution made with Keratin, which helps hair shine. She also cleanses dirt, oil, and big scary bugs out of hair with plant-based shampoos and conditioners from the Phyto line. Her colleague, Dawn Montgomery, also brings her own expertise to the styling station. In addition to holding certifications in both Brazilian straightening and Nano-Keratin techniques, Dawn is also versed in Deva's strategies for cutting curly hair.
