What You'll Get
Listen. You’re a creative person. You know it, we know it. So what if you spend your life hunched in a cubicle, writing reports summarizing and aggregating multiple reports in a daily report in preparation for the weekly and monthly reports. There’s something inside you, something bright and starlike that burns in your soul like a fire-breathing dragon (only smaller and maybe without wings or fire breath, but with some impressive firelike appendages coming out of its nose instead, like star-nosed moles).
In any case, whatever creature is burning away your insides with flames of creativity, it’s time to unleash it. It’s time to paint some ceramics.
With today’s Groupon, $25 gets you $50 at Color Me Mine. You can redeem your Groupon at either its DC location at 2439 18th St. NW in Adams Morgan or at 823 Ellsworth Dr. in Silver Spring, Maryland. There are more than 300 pieces to choose from, including coffee mugs, piggy banks, pasta holders, cow cookie jars, and more. Just pick your piece, paint your own design, and the folks at Color Me Mine will fire your creation and have it ready for you in a week. Read more about the simple and fun process. Oh, and feel free to bring some booze with you, because it’s BYOB at Color Me Mine and pouring a few while you and your friends paint some pottery can make the experience that much more fun.
Prices range from $12 to $95, depending on the size of the ceramic item, plus a $10 studio fee for glazing and firing each item in the kiln ($7 for kids). Your $50 Groupon can go toward multiple smaller pieces, or put a dent in a more valuable larger piece. It’s a great place for parties of all ages, and the finished pieces make one-of-a-kind mementos or gifts. All materials are provided: brushes, glazes, stencils (even computer images to download and trace). The space is so roomy and comfortable, you can get a group of friends together for a pottery party. Or for all you mothers out there, consider buying this as your children’s Father’s Day gift for dad this weekend; they’re not going to get him anything otherwise, and what better way to spend Father’s Day than an interactive, creative day making plates?!
People all over the city are getting in touch with their creative sides at Color Me Mine. Yelpers give Color Me Mine an average 4.5 stars, saying things like:
- “Loooooooooooooooooove it. I took my son one morning after shopping he had such a nice time the staff was nice and very helpful it was a fun and ez project... When we went to pick up our art work it was Beautiful! THIS PLACE IS FAMILY-Friendly and also couple-friendly if u wanna try something new for a date.” – Shameka H.
- “The staff is super helpful and nice and the atmosphere is friendly and playful. But really, the most important thing is that you can BYOB!! Initially, I thought only the "Ladies' Nights" were the only time you could bring booze, but apparently it's ALL the time. You just have to "serve yourself" (bring your own bottle opener, cups, etc.). I recommend this place to ALL.” – Nina A.
- “This place is basically a paint-your-own-pottery studio with a wide range of pieces and ideas. They have everything from tiles and tables to piggy banks and platters…Oh, and did I mention that you can BYOB? They allow you to food [sic] and beverages including alcoholic drinks! What can be better than sitting in an air-conditioned studio, painting pottery and drinking mimosas with some of your favorite people on a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon?” – Meredith B.
